Melvin Pardee

Melvin C. Pardee, 59, of Tecumseh, passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2010 after a long, brave battle with ALS, at home surrounded by his daughters, who were his caregivers during his illness. He was under the care of Heartland Hospice. Melvin was born March 19, 1950 in Ann Arbor, the son of Robert and Eleanor (Campbell) Pardee.
Melvin was a life-long resident of the area and a 1968 graduate of Clinton High School and 1972 graduate of Olivet College. He retired in 2002 after a 28-year career as a teacher at the Adrian Training School. He was very athletic and enjoyed running and biking. Melvin will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Melvin is survived by two daughters, Amanda Pardee of Clinton and Kari (Sheridan) Mattson of Tecumseh; one brother, Robert (Julie) Pardee of Onsted; four grandchildren who called him "Papa", Bailey DeClercq, Lillian Trubiano and Belle and Mae Mattson; and his former wife, Pamela Zorn Arkison of Tecumseh. He was preceded in death by his parents.
At his request, cremation has taken place. Inurnment will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Clinton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice, 3840 Packard Road, Suite 260, Ann Arbor, 48108. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.handlerfuneralhomes.com.
